Do we deserve it?

Posted on Oct 23rd, 2008 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense

Being happy. Living our dreams. Feeling loved. Experiencing joy. Do we deserve it?

We all want to be happy. That usually means doing what we want, when we want to do it, with the person or people we want to do it with. When we feel free to make choices and decisions about our life path, while following our passion, we are living life to the fullest - enjoying each moment while discovering our full potential. Until a seed of self-doubt sneaks upon us: Do I deserve it?

Sometimes when we receive the wonderful things we really wanted and worked for, among the initial overwhelming joy and excitement, a sudden self-defeating cloud begins to loom above our heads: Am I worthy of receiving this? Although we become worthy of receiving all we desire by simply creating our wants, our conditioned views on what we are worth of receiving in life greatly limit our ability to fully accept and enjoy what brings us happiness. Fulfilling business, a loving relationship, our dream home...yes, we want them, but are we willing to let go of our inherited or skewed views on deserving them?

Our past beliefs, experiences and insecurities
may be telling us that what we want we are not meant to have, so we find a way to sabotage ourselves - unconsciously or consciously / by our thoughts or actions. The business deal falls through, we complicate a relationship with a loving partner, our dream home sells to someone else. All because we could not accept or believe that we were deserving of receiving it.

Loving ourselves.
It's a cornerstone of acceptance. It opens us to being authentic and feeling deserving of all the joy we envision. By not loving ourselves completely, we dim the lights of our shining soul, allowing our limited ego-mind to analyze, scrutinize, and dissect true desires of our heart.

One way to overcome this is to allow such undeserving thoughts to come up, recognize them as self-defeating beliefs, feel them & let them pass, and fully embrace whatever we are receiving - simply because receiving what we wanted makes us feel good. No other reason is needed. Allowing ourselves to receive and appreciate what we have asked to come into our life is one of the greatest acts of self-love we could experience. Love yourself. And your dreams and desires. It is a most satisfying way to acknowledge our power of creation.

So celebrate that new business deal, embrace your loved one, jump for joy in your dream home! Because you do deserve it. Don't question why. Just enjoy it.

Live passion-full!

Using imagination & visualization to help fuel passion and reach dreams & goals

As adults, we rarely tap into the power of our imagination and visualization. But since we do have a great ability to focus and concentrate, we could use that potential to use visualization as a powerful tool to help us build & reach our goals (and create new dreams). Allow yourself to dream more. Then follow it with passionate action.

SHINE FROM WITHIN

Posted on Sep 2nd, 2008 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense

Shine from within. That is something that we do once we discover our passion, our reason for being. Once we learn to calm our mind (and ego) and start listening to our heart. When we decide to do what brings us joy.

So why do most of us find it hard to discover our passion?
Starting in childhood, our habits and belief systems were molded mainly by our parents, relatives, society and through our interaction with the world. Certain expectations were developed, which later on may have had an impact on our choice of a way of life or a certain career. And we thought that those choices were ours. We live our lives on autopilot. Life goes on. Years pass by.

And then one day
we start feeling trapped, anxious, bored, mad at the world. The question comes: Why this pain...and...what is the purpose of my life? We may find ourselves feeling "lost," in a job we dislike, in a life situation that does not feel good. We may think it's too late to change our lives. Or we decide to find some comfort in our current situation ("I have a good-paying job!" or "Other people live worse than me!" or many other silly statements). No matter how we try to rationalize this, the PAIN is there. We feel that life is passing us by and we haven't really LIVED. More questions come. THIS IS THE opportunity of a lifetime! You can use it to enhance your life and let it lead you towards unleashing of your potential to live life joyFULLY.

Here's how to start:

1. Make time to calm down, relax your body & mind, meditate, pray. Relax your mind.
2. Write down and review your strengths and accomplishments. Be grateful for them.
3. Realize that the situation you are in is JUST WHAT WAS NEEDED to bring you to this opportunity. Don't hate it. Instead, be thankful for it and for the "gifts" it brings.
4. Think of the things that bring you joy (your hobbies, interests). Whatever makes you happy when you do it. If you can't think of anything, go volunteer ANYWHERE (dog shelter, homeless shelter, hospital, go to VolunteerMatch.org). By being of service to others, you WILL GET what you need right now. Don't wait. DO IT NOW.
5. What can you see yourself doing that would bring you joy? What EXCITES you when you think about it? Is it another job, sport, lifestyle, activity, art? Picture yourself doing it (or go do it). How does it feel? If your heart sings, you are on a way to finding your passion. Visualize yourself doing it. Feel joy? Feel happy? Feel thrilled?? Great!
6. Set goals. What do you want to accomplish with your passion?
7. Don't hate where you are right now. On the contrary, give it all you've got! Be helpful, cooperate and be grateful. Things will change. You will create a new opportunity soon.
8. Believe in yourself. Read inspiring books. Do more of what you like. Develop your passion. Keep the enthusiasm high. Be flexible and stay open to new opportunities. Be aware of how you feel.

That's a great beginning. You may find that although your situation has not yet changed (same job, same situation, same problems), something HUGE is happening! You have cracked the shell, and the passion you are slowly beginning to discover and develop is slowly SHINING THROUGH. Honor it, think about it, care for it, be grateful for it. It is going to bring you the life you never thought was possible.

ANIMAL ANTHEM HAS BEEN UNLEASHED

Posted on Aug 28th, 2008 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense
I was inspired to create a song that spoke of my love and respect for the animals. So this month, it came out. WHEN I LOOK INTO THESE EYES is the song. The video came out to add the visual component (in a most delicious way!). I am excited to have been inspired to show animals as they are: beautiful and loving.

This song was inspired by animals and their beauty. It honors our compassion towards them. It is a promise to see their beauty and act towards them with love. It is a reminder of what we may be overlooking. The song is my version of a WORLDWIDE ANIMAL ANTHEM. We can inspire others to look at animals in a different way, to see their beauty and aliveness. If you like it, share it with loved ones, friends, and foes. If you know of an organization that helps animals, feel free to send them the video and spread the love.
Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0Ox1J72Wxc

If you can tell me how many animals are shown in the video and send me your email, I will email you the song. Or tell me the symbolism of reverse / forward movement...I am curious if people will catch it;)

Much love and (com)passion,

MAGIC FOREST MEDITATION

Posted on Aug 23rd, 2008 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense

I traveled to Velebit Mountain to visit a friend who runs a retreat there. Something unexpected and mysterious happened during my visit...

Velebit Mountain is a magical place. Nikola Tesla was born there, as well as several other prominent Croatian people. The place has a special vibe. The mountains are truly majestic. The days are HOT, and the nights COLD! Mother nature is beautiful and totally wild, and there's no industry around for many miles (i.e. no pollution at all), all organic mom-n-pop farming...all in all, it's all good! There are several healing water sources and the place has a very soothing vibe.

Now to the experience: I decided to take a walk into the forest and find a place to meditate. I was advised (by 4 people) to be VERY careful because this place if famous for their poisonous leaping snakes (poskok) and was given a large stick to ward off potential jumping snakes;) I took it and hit the ground a few times in front of me as went through tall grass. I went on this little "adventure" with an intention to experience the forest fully and enjoy the meditation there.

One thing I pondered while I was walking into the forest was WHY there were 2 goats, a dog and 3 cats following me into another part of the forest on an earlier walk (they lived on the retreat - and followed me into the forest - and would not leave me alone!) OK, so I am walking through the forest, looking for a cave, which I was told was the best place to meditate. I followed the given directions but did not find the place. Bummer. So I walked back, and as I was backtracking, the forest looked enchanting, but my intuition was telling me to move a little faster and go in a certain direction. So I went faster and ended up on this open field, where I felt was a good vibe to sit down and meditate. I sat down and started appreciating the whole place with all my senses.

That was a very strange part: the wind started to blow harder through the forest behind me as I decided to focus on my hearing (as if it was sharing a secret message with me), a hungry mosquito started to drill into my arm vein as I decided to appreciate the sense of touch (through a shirt!), and a strange smell of burning wood appeared once I decided to focus on the sense of smell. It was very magical. Let me be clear: the things I was experiencing were not there before I decided to engage my senses fully! I didn't find this weird at that moment (only the next day, when I was recalling the experience). My 6th sense embraced it all and as I was feeling gratitude for the experience, I felt a sudden urge to return before the night fall. I felt safe but also felt a strange need to get the hell outta there!

I found my way back easily and did not encounter any jumping snakes. Next day I heard a story of Fairy of Velebit (a story of a battle of good and evil in the forest of Velebit, where an evil fairy tries to kidnap a child with a pure heart to gain power, and the good fairy rescues the child with a help of animals;) but that would add another weird dimension to my experience. Some weird things happened in the morning, but it all worked out for the good of all involved, so it was all good. I parted with Velebit mountain and my magical experience with deep gratitude, sense of calm and 3 mosquito bites;)

I also did an interview, featured on PassionFull.com.

SOLID GENTLENESS

Posted on Aug 9th, 2008 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense

SOLID GENTLENESS (while visiting Croatian Adriatic coast)

Being solid but gentle, determined but flexible. The terms seem to contradict
themselves, but when fully accepted and experienced together, they appear to
create a synergy of their own. BEING both of these states at once creates a
BURNING FLAME that allows apparently opposite sides of our nature to EXPRESS
themselves in limitless ways. And this tasty combination becomes like an EXPLOSION,
blasting us out of our own world like a rocket headed for another dimension!
At that point, we are free to do what we do to shine, determined but flexible...
without our internal self-imposed limiting patterns. Solid deliciousness;)

There's another tasty treat (side-effect) when we open up to solid gentleness:
By allowing ourselves to open up to receiving gentleness, we open up doors to
releasing more of our gentleness towards the world. And the other way works, too;)

I am experiencing a lesson in allowing myself to RECEIVE more these days.
What I am finding out is that the more I am allowing myself to RECEIVE, the more
I feel inspired to create and GIVE
. And this is quite different from the way I was
inspired to do things in life. This is a conscious allowing of receiving, with a conscious
reaction of giving. It's a great circle, and it enhances my skill of compassion towards
the world. Focus on myself. Selfless. Inspiring. Creative. Delicious.

In that true spirit of sharing, I unleash more love and compassion into the world.

MINDBLOWING EVENING IN VUKOVAR

Posted on Jul 26th, 2008 by SixthSense : Fire SixthSense
What a mindblowing trip to the city of Vukovar!
It is the city that was destroyed (annihilated!) in Croatia's war for independence. More on its history here. Too brutal for me to talk about.

I was invited to check out a 2nd annual Blackout Hip-Hop concert, so I went. As I was passing through the city, I was shocked. I was faced with blown up remains of the buildings (where nature slowly took over and almost engulfed the houses). I saw houses that had bullet and grenade holes like swiss cheese. Now that was only the visual attack on my consciousness...more?

I could not avoid feeling the eery remains of the war vibe that (still) filled the city. I felt like I could feel the pain that was soaked in the streets, buildings...and people walking around. They might not think about it any more, but there's no doubt that the pain and trauma of war and atrocities that happened there are present deep in their minds and hearts. From children who were born before, during or after the war, the pain is there, and will most definitely manifest later in life; to the people who took part in the war...the pain is there.

The most amazing thing was the concert. In my eyes, it brought love and joy into the heart of Vukovar (through music). Music has this tasty quality - to reach deep into our hearts and heal - by bringing joy and happiness, by temporarily putting our pain on pause, and by helping us find a way to soothe (or express) our emotions in a positive way.

Now this Croatian hip-hop was unlike much of what we hear in the States, still raw and positive (like it was designed to be back in the day). But it did something amazing: it brought MCs from all 3 countries (Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia) together on one stage..in the city that was destroyed by armies from the same 3 countries.

Now that's some real powerful sh$#! This country has a great potential to heal through music (especially the future generation) and embrace love. More to come...
